The Ratatouie? Why's he muted?

Avatar of Carla-Magnusson

But they did no harm so far as I can see

Avatar of Pulpofeira

Did you ask him?

Avatar of Carla-Magnusson

He doesn't know

Avatar of Pulpofeira

I would leave.

Avatar of Carla-Magnusson

He has paid for a diamond membership, it should be refunded?

Avatar of Pulpofeira

Not for being muted I suppose.

Are you sure he knows how to work the buttons? 😉

The Rat should use a british flag, look at all toms threads and he hasn't been muted.

Avatar of YorikOGwaun

but tom closes his account often to make it look like he only has a few threads up, all about nothing, whereas there is actually subject matter to the Rats threads.

He has been told repeatedly in the past not to post his inane "rat droppings" in non-Off Topic forums. For quite a while he was always in Off Topic (I thought he was automatically routed to that one option--maybe not). So when he started up his nonsense machine again, he was no doubt warned and then punished. Fame comes at a price, I guess.

Yeah, but I've seen members do MUCH WORSE and get let off with a piddly mute.

Although, I must admit to not reading many of the Rat's droppings because he always looked a bit irRATional, maybe he should have just been RATioned... maybe he should take it to arbitRATion.

Yeah but Spudzie, don't think Rat's are worse than a lot of stuff, and if people don't like them, they don't have to read them. At least he pays for the privilege.

Hi BT, messages crossed :)

"Don't like.. don't read" ?

"Stay off the bridges.. crazy people on em"

Thing is, Carla... you have to read it first to see if you like it.  By then, it's too late.  So, saying if you don't like it, don't read it... is kinda unsound advice.  I usually ignore certain posters, ones I just know are going to say stupid stuff.

But I'm also of the opinion that if you have an opinion, you have the right to say it but you don't have the right to abuse people.

I have the right to ignore it or disagree, what I don't have is the right to tell others what they can and can't say or read.  That's the mod's job.

Spot on babytigrr.

I suspect I'll be blocked as I disagreed also with the "don't like...don't read" advice. It is immature imo .Everything else said is merely observations on being "muted" but of no import to the OP. Her gripe is a friend was muted. Members should be able to post as they please, even if it's 100's of threads or language that's incitefull or disruptive.

A couple of thaings...

Carla is pointing out a possible injustice.  If members can't do this on here, then we have a problem.  It could be that Rat has been unfairly treated, it could be that he deserved it.  I don't know.  Neither, to be fair... do you.

It is between the member and staff, yeah.  But as he/she is muted, someone has to do it for them, Carla has chosen to do this and has the right to do so.

If I was muted on here, as a diamond member I would not pay a cent more to the club...  If I thought I was treated unfairly, only the Rat knows whether he was or not.  Members can speak through more than just through their keyboards.

Post # 7----"He doesn't know".      They ALWAYS send you a reason. If its not for anything specific then it falls under the general category of  "abusing posting privileges".  They'll send you that notice simultaneously 2 different ways. In his messages on the site,  and in his E-mail in life just to make sure he gets the message.  Maybe he just got drunk and he's sleeping it off some place? wink.png                                                                                                phpDoX6CF.jpeg

In the meantime, let's enjoy all the empty space on the forums he left behind.

Agree with most everything said babytigrr. We do not know, nor should we be given any reason. An injustice? Possibly so. But this is not the best way to address that issue.

The members I've seen muted were posting for sometime, the same stuff that clearly was against TOA. Staff bends over backwards and let's things slide for quite sometime.  I'm sure warnings are given. Some mod's are very quick on the draw with deleting comments, locking threads. But being muted goes a step higher, with careful review I'm sure. I've heard of members being unmuted, on appeal. Maybe there was a rush to judgement. Take the case to the judge with members support. Eliciting it in a thread is more about being disgruntled than taking action.

Anyway, my 2 cents. Done here. Good day.

Anyway, it got us talking about it.  happy.png  Which is the point of forums and I like Carla.

Funny thing... just noticed the Rat is on my block list.  So, I couldn't really give a RA whether the mute is lifted or not.  wink.png

PS  He probably deserved it!
