In a music thread I mentioned that Michael Nesmith has released a new autobiography. That brings to mind " The Monkees " TV show, a fun program.
Old TV Shows ( Part II )
The other day the TV show " WRKP In Cincinnati " was mentioned on a local radio station here. I had forgotten what a good show that was and what a funny cast of characters that appeared on the program.
Just saw that Liz Dawn has passed away at age 77. Fans of Coronation Street will remember her as Vera Duckworth, a role that she played for many many years. Indeed she even took over the " Rover's Return " pub at one point along with her TV husband.
Would you like Door #1, Door #2 or Door #2 ? Yes I just saw where the one and only Monty Hall has passed away at age 96.
--- Yes the " Bilko " show was quite good. I think that a lot of people might also remember Silvers from the film " It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World ".
I see that several full episodes of " On The Buses " are now up on YouTube ( a great UK produced comedy ).
--- Thanks for the posts. I agree that the " Yes Minister " was terrific and then the follow up series ( Yes Prime-Minister ) was also very good as well.
Another good series from the UK going back some years was " Last Of The Summer Wine ". Mind you I heard that the people doing that show had their ups and downs, but the show was very funny.
I think that I mentioned the " Eric Sykes Show " in the pervious thread. That was the first UK produced show I remember seeing over here, it was carried on the CBC back in the mid-1960's.
Speaking of funny shows we must mention " Dad's Army " starring the great Arthur Lowe. It was a very good show and had a large cast that also included John Le Mesurier.
Another restart ( the trolls are relentless lol ).
