Name: Atlas
Abilities: Exceptional sailing and good knowledge of marine beings
Traits:
- Champions freedom
- Introverted
- Plans out well ahead
- Bigger brain than heart
- Detail-oriented
- Indifferent — insensitive sometimes
Alignment: Eari (leaning closely to neutral— JUST HEAR ME OUT)
Current Location: The Eari Isles
Backstory:
Sylvia, Atlas’s mother, was from Ravenna. She sailed to the Eari Isles to pursue a better life, and she would later give birth to Atlas there. Shortly after, the poisoning took place. Ravenna was wrongfully blamed by Uthan.
Even with its ethnic mixing, the Eari Isles were rampant with ethnic discrimination at the time due to the rising tensions between nations and fear of war, and obviously, hatred for Ravenna. Atlas’s childhood was full of hostilities because of this: his language was mocked, his traditions shunned. He at some point started to feel disgusted with himself because of his ancestry.
The sea was always Atlas’ friend. When he was down, he liked to sit at the shore and watch the waves and water play with the fish and algae. He waved, and it waved back. This interest in marine subjects led him to devour entire books about the sea. Atlas became a sailor.
Even into his adulthood (20 years after the poisoning) he continued to face hatred, internal and external. He had developed an indifferent attitude because of this, but secretly, it still stinged. To prove himself to others — but actually just to himself — he now works as a sailor for Eari’s navy. Though secretly… he still resents the people of the Isles. Or fears them? He isn’t quite sure.
Currently Owned Items:
- A map of the known world
- A compass
- A diary
Whaddaya think? Too cheesy?
𝙽𝚊𝚖𝚎: Alain Delado (Alain meaning little rock, symbolizing a heavy, but swift force of destruction) (Delado being a pseudo-contraction of del lado, meaning "of the end".) [both contract to make ‘deadly force of the end’, a name akin to ‘death’.] {not intended to sound edgy}
𝙰𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚎𝚜 (𝙾𝚙𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕): Blood-bending to a heavy extreme, a byproduct to zealous training.
𝙰𝚕𝚒𝚐𝚗𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝 (𝚄𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚗, 𝙼𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚛𝚒, 𝙴𝚊𝚛𝚒, 𝚘𝚛 𝙽𝚎𝚞𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚕): Neutral
𝙲𝚞𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝙻𝚘𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗: Eari
𝙱𝚊𝚌𝚔𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢: The son of high Uthan blood-benders, Alain Delado was born into a rich Uthan household. Although inheriting the gift of blood-bending, he was less proficient in his abilities than others, and often fell short of the minimum expected. His parents treated him with much contempt, as did the other people in his life. He was also seen as less than others by even those without the powers, and often treated as even lower than them.
At the age of 8, Alain fell into a deep dysphoria. He shut himself in for days at a time, practicing relentlessly. The jeers from others still passed through the door, but he did not let them fall upon his ears. Although exhaustion set in, and the impedimenta of his learning often tore through his esteem, he gained traction in his studies, and soon became more than proficient.
Finally, at the age of 13, he opened himself up. As he searched for a method to display his newer talents, he stumbled around the darker parts of town. Eventually, he had stumbled upon a slave trader and broker, who, upon payment, highly suggested a underground fighting ring. He filed himself in under a fake name, and competed wearing a masquerade mask. He was treated as beyond human due to his prowess in fighting due to his abilities.
He revealed himself to his parents using the fights, and made a name for himself. His parents began to treat him as a son again, and would advocate for his power. He slowly grew back into the limelight, although not all the bad treatment against him had ceased. He was slowly encouraged to join politics from his father, although he politely declined many a time.
At roughly 14, He met a woman of his age by the name of Rei. They often met in private after, enjoying drinks and speaking with one another. He grew infatuated with her, and she seemed the same. One night, he dedicated a fight to her, which sparked public dismay. Although he didn’t know it at that time, his declaration would lead them downhill.
Immediately after the fight, he was pulled aside. It was then explained to him the social difference between the blood-bending noble-like classes, and the normal people. He dashed out the door to find Rei, only to find her lying at rest with an incision torn across her throat.
He fell, again, into a deep depression, where he did not dare go outside, nor did he practice. His abilities slowly deteriorated, as did his relationships. He grew more isolated in time, and his abilities lessened.
At 15, his parents enrolled him in a nobles’ course, where they’d be taught basic Uthan politics, economic applications, and enhancing their abilities further. Although he was adequately able a while ago, his skills had fallen off, and he was significantly behind, to his dismay. He was treated as lesser by some more proficient classmates. Furthermore, when his previous relationship with Rei was discovered, he was ridiculed even further, especially by a student by the name of Asphodel.
When he was deep into age 17, his father was sent by a higher government official to deliver a doctrine to a further-out islet of Eari, discussing seafare taxes and tariffs. He took his wife and son with him, and traveled to the small island.
As they were leaving, their vessel was burnt, and they were attacked by rebels against the government of Uthan. His father was slain, and his mother separated from them. He was knocked unconscious.
When he awoke, Asphodel stood before him, in a deep cavern by the name of Mire of the Ferryman. He revealed that he was, in part, a part of a plan to overthrow and reform the government. He was burnt, stabbed, and tortured for hours on end. Finally, he left, and destroyed the entrance behind him.
For days upon days, Alain attempted to escape, foraging what minimal food in the cave could subsist him. He attempted, hour upon hour, to tear through the cave walls using his power. He survived off of cave fish, deep vegetation, and water from deep soil filtration.
After countless days, daylight broke through a channel in the mouth of the cave. He tore through and entered daylight. Uthan had not been overthrown, and the Eari Isles were the same as before. At a loss, all he could do was take one step after another. Survival was all he knew, and all he planned to do.
𝙲𝚞𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚕𝚢 𝙾𝚠𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝙸𝚝𝚎𝚖𝚜:
- A sparkling clean but damaged knife, torn apart on the thin iron end from many uses, and many scratches on the resin-polished hickory handle
- A sandalwood handle to a revolver, but completely missing the hot iron that would normally sit on the end. Black stains from explosions tarnish the end of the handle that curves out. It sits in a tiny black-dyed-leather holster that clips onto his pocket. (Usage of blood to simulate the firepower of a revolver [rarely uses, kinda like a fighting came ultimate move], at an extremely taxing price to the user)
- A tightly-bound leather journal, with loose pages trifling out. The pages outline thoughts from the Mire. On the first few pages, countless tallies of 正 are scribbled in rough lines on the pages, with ink and chalk-like stones alike.
𝙼𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗: Survival.
approved 100%
small side note, but revolvers don't exist yet (but that's a small lil nitpick)
Thank you ^^
(Also, I didn't think they would exist lol-. The way I see it working is him using a ton of blood, bending it into the shape of a barrel, and blastin' stuff out of it by condensing blood & using it like a pressure launcher
also the amount of neutral characters is astounding
angry evil dictator incoming, lemme cook...
