overmoderation

its super annoying like bruh

most of the time its not even correct, locking a thread that the mod think is bad but never even read the context

when everyone except the mods understand

like bruh im usualy fine but a ton of the newer mods are over moderating EVERTYHGING

like what?

bruh

whats even worse is they close threads that are fun and dont have arguments the older mods specifically ALLOWED but they just ruin it

like seriously?

first of all they overmod so much

they never moderate the right threads

most offensive threads last longer than random threads that everyone likes

seriously its NOT fun

sign this petition to remove over moderation and unfair admin abuse

duntcare

this literally started THE DAY they became mods

it wasnt that bad but increasingly i got annoyed of it

duntcare

multiple great threads were removed and what? you cant troll

not that trolling is good but forum trolling doesnt hurt anyone

i mean bruh its your own choice if you want to pretend castling is illegal with a bunch of others

duntcare

like seriously its literally 2 new mods RUINING ALL FUN

Vibhansh_Alok

But if a troll starts flaming wouldn't overmoderaiton be good so we can stop it quickly

duntcare

no it wouldnt because it isnt overmoderation

duntcare

overmoderation is stupid and basically makes the community inactive

Strangemover

Everything in moderation. Including moderation.

Yes, there should be a way to report admins or a staff over moderating. I am honored to be a superadmin of a club with 1800 members. I never thought this would be happening to me.

When I went to join another club,

A particular staff/admin

1) Would not let me into my countries club (Team Bangladesh). Stereotyped me as not a citizen.

2) After much frustration, he finally did.

3) I didn't want other people to suffer like I did. So, I made a forum to say they should change they way they stereotype and treat newer members. I am a coward so basically all I said was "admins should be more friendly and here is a good chess game"

4) Even then he Deleted the forum.

5) Took away my right to interact with other members in the club. Cant make forums/ cant comment. No notes. No chat. And no warning given.

3) I was chatting to him about why they could have more vote chess in TB and he pointed out my low rating and said to go to other clubs if I want to play vote chess. Blocked me in the chat.

4) And he keeps mentioning in the forum how he wants newer members to be more active. Yet all he has done ever since I joined is shun me away from the community. Made sure anything I said is not heard. Made me feel not belonged to a club representing my coutry.

IN GENRAL

He moderates the sh*t out of every forum. Any comment disagreeing and not giving a mindless thumbup.png is deleted. "Freedom" yeah more like, "f u dom". You might suggest, just leave the club and join another. But big oop, the only other bangladeshi club is also super admined by him.

Servers cost money (big bucks, in fact). A building to house them costs money, especially when you factor in insurance premiums. On-site staff (network ops) costs money. Electricity costs money.

Since THEY are paying the bills, I think that chess.com has the right to make whatever rules they wish. If you don't like their rules, then buy your own servers, rent your own building, hire your own staff and start your own, competing company.

My 2 cents (Canadian).

Think of me what you want after reading this, but imo this place isn't moderated enough.

Yes, there should be more rightful modding. But overmodding and admin abuse is modding the playful forum/ the fun stuff/ removing any and all simple disagreements.

Sure, I have nothing to add to that. Modding policies feel out of whack and haphazard in general: They leave obvious trolls and toxic people unpunished but love muting someone for one single "bad" word, even if it was used in a neutral context. Sometimes I have to wonder if they talked to a real person.

I'd say the moderation here is haphazard at best. Maybe they'll come around, maybe not. Maybe I'll stay with this site, maybe not.

ikr, its not that modding is bad but some of the "mean" forums the whole community loves or stuff, for example one of the threads, last one to post is a weirdo was posted like 1000 times in because people had fun in the thread but the mods are like

NO EVEN CALLING PEOPLE WEIRDO IS MEAN ASDF

like bruh can ya'll be like a chill mod, like whats worse is the old and good mods like batgirl and david are retiring and rip
