I agree with you, Geodexic. Even on mainstream TV I once saw a documentary of some ghost hunters who kept video running all night in a supposedly haunted house, and woke up the sound of a loud bang. It turned out to be a very old ceramic mug that had shattered in the middle of a floor. There seemed to be no point of origin and even weirder was that the scattering shards abruptly stopped at a fixed radius, as if a barrier had been placed around the mug before shattering it.
In my own town by chance I happened to be in a library where our local ghost hunting society was giving a presentation of their experiences. They played audio recordings they made in a local haunted house, and with a little filtering and speed and volume adjustment you could make out the words that were being said. I was impressed that the people in that society never even doubted for a moment that ghosts existed because they were so frequently recording evidence of them.
Also, almost all primitive societies similarly assume spirits exist, like the fireballs that come in off the ocean and settle on land in Tahiti. Such accounts are so numerous, on top of a couple eyewitnesses from which I've heard, that I have little doubt that *something* like ghosts exist, even though I've never personally seen them, and though I don't know the explanation.
As for spiritual mediums, I strongly suspect at least 99% of them are fake, though.

It depends. Let's say phenomena exist that people interpret as ghosts. So, what would a ghost be? People tend to think they are the spirits of dead people or something.

Geodexic, Have you heard of orbs? Those are lighted balls that are seen floating around, inside or outside of buildings. If you look up orbs + dogs on YouTube you'll find dozens of videos of dogs and cats with orbs caught on video. A very common type of outdoor UFO is also a small lighted ball, but I don't know if those are different than the indoor orbs that pets supposedly often see. One type of small flying object called a "rod" was recently debunked: those were found to be flying moths whose traces on video were misleading, so maybe something similar explains indoor orbs, maybe some kind of digital camera glitch. Unfortunately, a lot of dog + orb/ghost videos are explainable by dogs hearing small animals inside the walls, anything from termites to mice, so many such incidents aren't as mysterious as they might seem. And have you see all the creepy animals caught on video by accident, especially by remote trail cameras running all night? There are a lot of very weird things going on that we don't know about, and just because such sightings are rare doesn't mean they aren't really happening.
