That's what thought does, it represents things, nothing wrong here.
The problems occur when it represents something that doesn't exist. It uses the word 'love' to depict somthing it never experienced, or if it did it's long gone by now, so it tries to reach something it no longer exists—by going back to a past experience.
Or it depicts an entity that is in control, but which doesn't quite exist. The problems occur then when it presents fiction as reality. Then conflict is inevitable.
