Rick Riordan (Jr) said that writing this series is one of his biggest regrets because he is pushing 60 and has nothing else that people recognize him for. “And on top of that”, he said, “no one recognizes me in the streets. Not that I go out much but still, it would me nice if someone walked up every now and then and said, ‘Hey Rick I love your series!’ Or ‘Wow can we take a photo with you!?’.” He went on to explain that he would “love to take a pic with fans but not even his ‘fans’ know who he is because they’re a bunch of adolescents who hardly know anything outside of themselves.”
