Try coping the FEN then pasting into the diagram maker that chess.com provides. I'm not sure you can use the PGN for that.
PGN file interpretation help, please?

Oh the dashes are from and too. Like the opening move is e2 moving to e4. Move 2 is Ng1 moving to Nf3. We would just say Nf3 not noting where it was when it was moved. Its just confusing at times.

Yes we do not need to know where it was before moved just the move. Portable Game Notation is formated to be read by like a computer program.

Yeah it is confusing to read I'm sure the above was interpreted by a computer program.
On your move 2 its not Ng1 but Nf3. The where at is on the left and where its headed is on the right. So the Knight on g1 is going to f3 making it Nf3.

I agree Captain the dashes are not part of a normal file spec but the computer must be able to convert it. I also looked it up. Where did you get those PGNs.

I don't remember the specific sight. What I do have are 409 games completed by Morphy. I am able to load them into Tarsch and then copy the moves from the move window and do a lot of cut-copy-paste to get them into shorthand. I hope there is an easier way -- barely have 10 done and more than 399 to go, sheesh!

I'm tempted to do a "replace all" feature so that all like moves are replaced all at once. What I'm afraid of is something like Ra1-d1 but there are 2 rooks on the file, so Ra1-d1 becomes Rd1 breaking a game.
Can someone interpret this PGN:

What are the dashes with the additional moves? Is this 2 games recorded, or what?
Heck, I can't make heads or tails of it myself!
I tried removing all "moves" right of the dashes. All I ended up with was gibberish!

I am very confused and could use some help understanding the above PGN.
Thank you!
