i think the c.c staff are trying to fix this, they fixed otfdan, which effected very few people compared to the entirety of active c.c users. so why wouldnt they fix this?

1. The Phantom Mutes are caused by an error accidentally placed in the code of forums responsible for dealing with the logistics of mutes.

2. The Phantom Mutes are a new feature, like a level of ban lower than a mute, that got released by accident and is now running haywire. Yeah, this one's more of a conspiracy theory.
i think its an error in people blocking other people.

i have been phantom muted twice
new theory:
c.c is experimenting with a new way to mute, making it so message arent lost temporarily. this is a sort of test to see if its working, though i dont see why they would do it so much
