Political Correctness

The problem with censorship is that we can't even talk about the simplest things without getting censored by the thought police. Anyone with a clear mind can understand my viewpoint, and I am not here to push any kind of agenda, political or otherwise. I am simply saying that we need to fix the way we look at the world and its inhabitants. People do not have the level of responsibility or wisdom to make the world a better place, and the few who do cannot be analyzed, only silenced. This silencing has been going on since the past 30 - 40 years, and it's only been getting worse since then. If we allow this kind of thing to happen, we are going to end up in 1984, giving authority to corrupt and cold people. We live too much in the present, ignoring the past and not learning how to think about the future. These people don't care about you. They will only lead us to ignorance, and, as a result, tyranny. Perhaps if we took a wiser, more intellectual approach to this subject, maybe then we can actually start communicating and making the world a better place.

Very true, however, some can say whatever they like, and others not a peep.

Yeah, censorship is bad, but at the same time most of the ideas censored by political correctness are idiotic and hurtful.

So I don't really agree with censorship, but I also don't really respect most opinions that go against political correctness. There's always exceptions though. And yes it does go too far sometimes.

Banning free speech can never be right.

Note, I'm not talking about rules on this website but just PC in general everyday life.

I don't agree with censorship on here either but it's less about thought-policing and more about creating a sterile non-offensive environment because it's good for business.

When two people have opposing political views tey'll have a row sooner or later anyway.

What I have noticed about PC is that it makes people overly sensitive . I know a woman who works in a large office and she told me how everybody is just sick of it. It has gone way too far.

Examples of things you would like to say but can't?

Oh , there is plenty to say, but I'm not gonna have this thread get locked. I'm not talking racial slurs either, but topics that should be discussed but are restricted because someone may get offended. People need to be stronger than that, and have the ability to control their emotions.

Btw. PC is ultimately an illusion. No one is really stopping you from saying anything. They'll just judge you for being a horrible person.
Free speech doesn't mean without social repercussions. Just look at comedians like Bill Burr and George Carlin.

The trick is to find the areas in which PC is actually overreaching, and not be a racist piece of trash.

What topics should be discussed but aren't? We can discuss this without actually going into detail about anything
