The basic problem is the imperfection of mankind. The near-perfect game was a shame, but that's the game. The US also suffered from a bad call in the World Cup matches (as did Brazil!) It's not fair sometimes, but it's still better than using machines!
Problems with sports around the world

The US I believe had a goal taken away (didn't see it myself), and Brazil had an incident where a player (I can see his face, but can't remember his name....) was walking on the field, and an opposing player crashed into him from behind (seemed to be an accident). The officials charged Brazil with the penalty, and took the guy out of the game, and, if memory serves me, he had to miss the next game (or two...).
The name says it all. As you can remember, in the football(soccer) match Germany vs. England, the refs missed out on a goal that would have made the game 2-2. if that would not have happened, england might have won the match, and germany eleminated. also, in baseball, a detroit tiger pitcher threw a perfect game, or no runners go on base, no walks, no hits, and this ref says"safe at first."
