trunks and currency dangled about do not do anything to move anyone forward in the quest to be pm.
as with the topics where chess masters might feel like they are attempting to impart knowledge to an insect (see: pfren), it is kinda similar here. i can tell everyone how it is that i float so well. i can try to explain my buoyant qualities (learned over many years). i may explain how it is i can see moves of waves way before they happen. i could explain how i was able to do the triple lindy. that does not mean everyone else can do it!
it's ok to float around with no title! as i am just a regular hack playing chess, it's fine if you are a regular floater!

the bunny has an interesting topic about how a chess master responded to people asking the age old question of how long to become titled, and it reminded me of this.
i often get questions of how long it takes to become a pm (pool master). i think people can tell i'm a pm due to my avatar even though cc does not recognize this worthy achievement with colored letters next to my name.
anyhow, some believe in the random 10,000 number. some have said they've floated around for more than that time, and wonder why they are not pm. as with titled chessers, i attempt to bring these people back down to earth (land) but there are still some that think it is automatic. it is not. it takes years of dedication and a level of buoyancy that requires skill and talent.
consider that the kid on the cover of nirvana's nevermind didn't even make it to pm! so, it's ok to float around and have fun without taking it too seriously, or, thinking a random amount of time will result in an automatic promotion to pm.
