Put yourself in a robber's shoes...

Some people can't read, and locked threads and anti-social profile settings should not shield them from learning of their massive oversight and completely mistaken tirade ;)...

Did you lose to someone who doesn't allow notes and has blocked chat?

DiogenesDue

No, I was in a forum discussion, and the OP got the thread locked, which happened to prevent me from responding to a poster that went off half cocked about something he did not read correctly.  That poster happens to also block messages, so, this is just a "for the record" reminder of the line he skimmed over before launching into a laughable tirade.

But you haven't posted in a forum for more than a month.

The last one was a World Cup thread. Is that the one?

I'm afraid you are mistaken.  I am posting almost every day ;).  What you are looking up is posts that are created by me, not already existing posts that I reply to.  The thread in question is actually:

Aha. So now that you've identified the thread, am I to understand that your "just for the record" post means that you don't want Nomadic Knight to understand that you think he "went off half-cocked over something which he did not read correctly"?

Why didn't you just say that?   I'm sure that his friends will now not pass along your message and that all subsequent discussions that won't take place here will be completely reasonable.

Clearly not.  My first post is not that hard to interpret.

Heck! they'd even shoot fellas armed with knives!

NomadicKnight

This is pretty funny, btickler. And yes, I read everything correctly. It's your incorrect thinking that prevented you from understanding. Surprised

If I was a robber, I would just want the money and not to pick up a murder charge.

When I was 14 years old I was a bag boy at the local grocery store.  After close one of us bag boys would walk down the the bank and drop off the stores nightly deposit.  On this daily trip one night a man in wearing a hankercheif over his face like an old west outlaw popped out from around the corner of a building and pointed a gun at me.  Before either of us had a chance to say anything I turned tail and ran my ass off.  I didn't even think to drop the money I was so damn scared.  I would have shit myself except this is impossible when you are running full speed.

People like NomadicKnight think I should have been armed and shot the man who attempted to rob me.  Pulled my pistol and blazed away like John Rambo.  NK probably also assumes that every robber is a psychopathic killer and would have shot me in the back.  Which didn't happen and most of them time doesn't happen.  Robbers want your money, that's why their called robbers and not murderers.

I also think that some of these right to self defense people who carry a gun on them constantly have never actually had a gun pointed at them in anger.  I've done some casual polling, many have not and would probably react much like I did.  Scared.

While I can at least see your viewpoint, I have to disagree, as I have experienced armed robbery, and having a gun myself allowed me to "disengage" the situation, and without even needing to fire a shot. He dropped the weapon and kissed the floor. And guess where I encountered this at? In plain clothes, in a convenience store, and two middle-school aged children, along with the cashier, were in immediate danger. Being proactive and not falling for the line of "guns are BAD" DOES actually save lives - Including the criminal's.

I've also been held up at gunpoint twice.  Both times I emerged unscathed without having to surrender my valuables or cash.

It's not really a big deal.  Most gun wielding robbers are scared idiots.  Of course I was really high and drunk both times so that's probably why I chose to fend for myself rather than calmly give up.  The first time I also had my driver with me (who was very intimidating in the Bond supervillain henchman manner) so that also helped.

And @NotMTwain, stop trying to argue and nitpick everything to death.  Or , in the alternate, if you insist on doing so, at least get your facts straight.

You're still batting .000 . . .

Let me clear the air and then I will exit. I hate to be in the crossfire of shooting, but since I posess a modicum of reading comprehetion here goes.  The OP in question started a thread about receiving a THREAT. The thread eventually morph into a discussion of gun control. Since the threat was abolished, she felt the thread should be closed. ALSO because people started shooting. Johnny M continued the gun argument, opening another thread, and now the violence is spreading to yet, another thread. You can't just carry arguments into other threads without explaining to our viewers. The only safe thread now is GAZA. Please post responsibly, and keep your OP's in order. These are troubling times in the kingdom. Carry on!

I sleep very soundly, regardless of your ridiculous anti-gun viewpoints. And guess what is on my nightstand as I enjoy a peaceful night's sleep? Tongue Out

johnmusacha

A bong?

NomadicKnight

No, but I would not be one bit surprised if that's what you sleep with, "brah"...

See...more poor assumptions and poor recollection.  Just because I corrected your silly convenience store scenario and improper courses of action, does not mean I am "anti-guns".  As it turns out, I have been certified for both M16 and M15 (sidearm) and have fired and "carried" both (not recently, though).  If you go back and look, you'll find that I did not say much of anything about a stance on gun control either yay or nay.  If anything, I am "anti stupid behavior" ;)...

I will say this, though:  I prefer archery to shooting (in general).  Maybe you can paint me as "anti-gun" on that basis...

johnmusacha

I was standing in line at the 7-11 in cargo shorts and flip flops, with an AR-15 slung over my shoulder.  The cargo shorts are good for carrying extra clips.  The shirtless with a bandolier look attracts all the trashy chicks as well.

Where exactly did you correct anything that I posted, which you clearly demonstrate you know ti-ti about, so therefore the question to be asked is how could you "correct" my statements? Sit down, you do not know what you are talking about as well as you think you do, especially when you are trying to talk down to someone who enforces law and knows United States criminal codes like the back of my hand, smart guy.
