In emergencies, since modern Windows OSes descend from the NT line, if you press CTRL + ALT + DEL to bring up the power/account options menu, then hold CTRL + ALT + DEL and click the power icon (which is actually a lot harder than it sounds), it will open a prompt notifying you that when you perform an emergency restart, unsaved data will be lost. You can then click OK to restart the computer (rather quickly).

To be honest, I enjoy random forums, since it allows for chaotic thoughts to be included here without having to search for a proper topic to include it in for half an hour. I have a bit of a problem with that at times.
