Last year i wrote a post about the name Nazi ( please visit my site to review posts)  Now the same subject matter has come about again in my private life.  I still don't understand why cultures with a semetic language who's alphabet holds no relation to our western alphabet choose to translate names in an ofensive manner. Eg;     گروههاى نئونازى  = Nazi

Why not change it to Nassie    If my name was Richard and my last name Head  would this site allow me to use the short version of Richard Di..???

well you get my meaning

trysts

I think the exact translation of

گروههاى نئونازى

is "Danish Fishermen".

trysts  ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... I have no idea what it means my point is that the alphabet they use has no relation to ours therefore you can choose whatever spelling you like.  So why not choose a spelling that does not annoy anyone?????

trysts

It's impossible. Somebody will be annoyed. So, let me get this straight, you're saying that somebody spells a word that sounds like "nassie" into the word "nazi", and it offends you? Or have I got it completely wrong?

PepiBobo

I am saying that if I changed my name from my language to somebody elses language I would be cognicent of the fact of it being offensive or not. Whether it be in a form of an explitive, or any other way. eg;courageous hitler................

trysts

Oh. So you would like people to be more aware of what they say, because in another language the translation may be offensive?

PepiBobo

Trysts  I think that would be the respectful way to go..... but the bhuddist in me doesn't want them to do anything. I can't change the world only myself.
