s23bog's mobile, rain-drop shaped, greenhouse that will solve climate change (with capacity to fly)

This thread is about s23bog spacecraft that will save us all from the climate change. We can talk here about all the details.

This topic was originally discussed in Global warming thread, but it has so many details that it needed this new thread devoted only to the spacecraft design.

I hope you enjoy with all the details about this incredible machine.

Next I copied and pasted the datails he described, so that nobody is lost and we retake from where it was left. Every comment s23bog said about the spacecraft is separated by dots:

I made no such claim of making it in my own. I specifically went to Santiago to find assistance because I was unable to find it in Chañaral. As for powering it with plants ... I have no idea where he came up with that.
............
I specifically mentioned wind as the primary force for mobility. Also was mentioned that I expect the design will generate some sort of electricity. Before I know what kind of electricity, or how much, I am holding off on making plans on how to use it.
............
You are incorrect in saying that I have done no calculations. I have, in fact done a number of them (usually incorrectly, but they served their purposes as rough estimates.

In a greenhouse made from 3 meter pieces of PVC, you wind up with 112.8 meters of bamboo. Maybe 110 meters are usable, but it is easier to work with a number like 96 meters. I have burlap sacks that are 2 meters in length when opened lengthwise. So, given some loss at the ends, where you close it up, you could say 95 meters of usable space to support a root system. If plants are spaced 10 cm apart (which I feel is wildly conservative) that yield 950 plants in a vessel that is really too small for one person. I think that the size needed for one person would be closer to 5 meter lengths of whatever material is best for a vehicle that would be terestrial, marine, airborn, or extraterrestrial.

Stainless Steel tubes might be best, given what is available today. But, would stainless steel have the proper flexibility to bend two rods into an elipse? Whatever material used, that is the first test it must pass.

I could do the calculations for a few other numbers if you like. But, I should think I'd like for you to do them. I'll give you a hint .... the increase in space available for roots is exponential.

How many plants were needed to provide oxygen for one person?
.............
I want to be comfortably situated in the eye of the craft. If you watch the videos, maybe you can make it out, already.
.............
Way ahead of you when it comes to holding them in place. For the prototype, I just tie the tubes made from burlap and filled with soil and seeds, onto the bamboo. The bamboo provides the support necessary for at least 950 plants (no pots needed). The PVC will support irrigation hoses. I will probably mount the hoses along each of the 6 smaller elipses that are 6 meters in diameter. So ... that would be 36 meters of hose. I should think it could be done with a single hose.
............
I should think that a cockpit that is about 5/3's the height, 5/3's the width, and 5/3's the length of the current prototype would suffice. Hence, I might use 5 meter lengths to support the outer structure instead of 3 meter lengths.
............
Perhaps sheep would be better than cows.
............
A sun facing window? You do realize that the shape is more spherical, right?

As for it being an illegal pot farm ... I am working with the government, not against it. I have suggested growing cañamo. I have spoken with PDI, and some carabineros about marijuana. I specifically told PDI that I want to grow a lot of marijuana (for oil and clothing/fibers).

Would you call that illegal?

Aríca, Chile has the largest medical marijuana farm in South America. In the south, they have some regions that allow for hemp production.
............
The authorities know about me. If they are not paying attention to my online activity, I would be quite surprised. I suspect they are paying attention to this very conversation.
...........
The surface area of the prototype I have made would be roughly 100 m^2.
............
Any journey begins with a step. I am not currently worried about propulsion. I am currently focused on making it so that it will support plant life in a spectacular fashion. Once I get that step completed, I will work on making something a bit larger, and more mobile. One specific thing I need to address is theway the points of the 18 pointed 3 dimensional star connect to the structure of the outer shell.

The lengths of the legs of the star are variable. I would need to find the minimum and maximum lengths of each leg, and mount it using long hollow tubes that will allow for the fluctuation in length. Some sort of hydraulic system that would allow for adjustment in resistance might be useful.

Then, there is the cover. Some sort of insulation might be useful for the trip I have planned across the Drake Passage. I am sure it will be useful in the south of Chile, as well.

I would also like to take a look at wind patterns around there and see if it is possible to ride the winds across the passage. Propulsion is a challenge for another day. But make no mistake that I do have intneiton to use this design to travel great distances from the surface of the earth. There are winds of incredible magnitude that are available to be used. You just would have to be willing to ride through a hurricane to use them.
...........
Heat from within the craft can produce some lift. The air pressure outside of the craft would provide a great deal of lift. Higher velocity air produces a decrease in air pressure. That is how an airplane wing provides lift. It is flat on the bottom, and rounded above, so that the air pressure is less at the top of the wing.

Orientation to vertical of a flattened spheroid would have the effect of allowing a pilot to determine what direction net lift would be based upon the shape of the craft.
...............
Apparently, the first laws in the Americas pertaining to cannabis were at Jamestown Colony. People were required to grow it. It is not public knowledge as to what exactly happened to that colony. I absolutely can testify that there is something inherently dangerous about the drug.

My life has been a testament to that. It comes with conflict with regards to Christ, as I know Him. Can one want more of both, while truly knowing of which they want more?

Some have linked it to satan. I wonder what Christ would think of satan laying claim to one of the most useful plants in the world. A vast array of products can be made from the plant.
..............
We could send the load into higher altitude using solar powered aircraft. And then the rocket fueled spacecraft would pick the load from the solar aircraft.

Spacecraft would rely on gravity pulling when it goes down the earth and using wings to decelerating the craft. By this way the liquid fuel will only be used for spacecraft's departure into outer space.
.............
No. This particular deign doesn't use anything like wings. The best thing, shapewise to compare it to is a drop of water. If the air inside is lower pressure than the air outside, there is lift. If the velocity of the air going over the top of the shape is faster than the air going across the bottom of the shape, there is lift. Getting to cloud level using a combination of these two fundamental principles of aerospace design. Getting higher than that .... well, that's another step.

One step at a time.
...............
Is it easier to step from a cloud into space, or to travel the whole distance from the ground?
...............
Discussion can always take place on my YouTube page, as well. There is a mechanism for discussion. Plus, I wouldn't run as great a risk of being blocked out of my own thread. There are movements afoot to have me banned from chess.com.

Any fairminded admin can read what was actually said. He can make up for his own mind as to how to interpret what was said. Some people have read things into what was said that were not meant.
.............
How much greater is the force of gravity at the surface, as opposed to at an altitude of 80,000 feet, or so?
.............
I should think it is about the same, but not exactly the same.

Gravity drops off with distance as described by the inverse square law. But, I think that is distance from the center of a mass.
.............
How much force is required to get to 80,000 feet?
..............
It seems to me that if you say that force is insignificant, you kind of illustrate why we have an energy crisis.
...............
Elroch, do you really think it is wise to outright dismiss a possible solution to the problem you describe? You say my idea is worthless, but have you considered that you may, in fact, be wrong?
................
Instead of using the word "possible" there, I would be willing to rephrase it with the word "proposed" if that better suits your own feelings toward the matter.
...............
Military jets fly wherever military jets fly.
................
I do my best to stick to the truth.
...............
You might find it interesting to read some of Einstein's quotes on imagination. I found them revealing.

You are wellcome happy.png

If you believe in people's projects and encorage them, they will produce very interesting results.

I have seen your youtube video about the spacecraft:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbXRpqMMZsA

it looks like a very light structure. Being so light I think it will really fly.

p8q

Now I understand about the driving system. Once you see the structure you can understand better the previous details about how it can be driven.

p8q

For the time being will you include wheels to the structure?

p8q

An idea I just got is that you could build inside a wheel structure that keeps plants in vertical position while the exterior structure rolls. Something like this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqqzKtBw0MQ

but built in a way that the inside doesn't roll. I don't know if it's a good idea...

To keep the interior stable you could install gyroscopes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cquvA_IpEsA

p8q

By the way, climate change can also be discussed in this thread.

p8q

"[... ] considered having the inside separate from the outside, [...]"

Yes, that's what I meant. Separated by some wheels and gyroscopes system in order to keep the inside in horizontal and stable position while the exterior rolls happy.png

Yeah, the USA needs to build the first McDonald's on Mars.

p8q

Probabliy USA should nail the flag to the ground of Mars before any other country does it first. And a first McDonalds could be necessary too.

Because China is taking this living in Mars thing really seriously. They just built the first Mars simulation base on earth. This video shows it:

We can't allow to lose the second cold war space rush, right?

Probably Amazon Prime will show up on Mars before anything else.

p8q

Fresh and new ideas, fresh minds is what we need. Who knows? It's possible that s23bog spacecraft could be the best transportation system on Mars. There are no roads there. A circular structure that rolls and keep oxigen inside with an stable interior could be the solution for transportation on Mars.

p8q

About Amazon Prime... it's possible to be the first one to get there. Or maybe another brandmark, who knows.... Private companies have a lot of iniciative concerning space exploration. For example Boeing's 'space taxi'

That's right, it could be a clean method of transportation on earth.

p8q

I think drifting one's own weight could be the propulsion system.

OneThousandEightHundred18

I was amazed to see the video of the spacecraft in work. i really thought he was just trolling. its an interesting art piece at the very least

p8q

omg! s23bog just now has been kicked out of chess.com

Now without him this thread doesn't make much sense, since he was the only one who knew how to build that machine, spacecraft, vehicle or whatever it was...

p8q

Too sad, I liked this technicals discussion. At the beginning I also couldn't believe it, but then I saw the video, and saw someone struggling to do something positive. It may not work, but he was doing something, and it was something clean and altruist. That was a good direction he's walking and I just wanted to help.

OneThousandEightHundred18

i wonder why he got banned...
