Ever heard of the phrase quality over quantity? I saw that thread, cool idea, but when you make it your goal to just get a bunch of posts at any cost, the thread is spam and not worth reading.

See, the problem with the forums (and a lot of kids generally), let me spell this out for you - you all care too much about attention and think that's the only indication of the quality of your posts. I promise, it's not
Drama threads and spam threads get the most attention, and those are the 2 things that kill the forum.
One of the most legendary posters ever on this site was Batgirl, who made the highest quality forum posts I've ever seen in my life. They didn't get much attention because they were serious and well-researched stories about chess history. She posted them because she found the subject fascinating and didn't care if others gave her attention for her effort. So the lesson is, post whatever you actually find interesting and don't worry what other people think.
The paradox is that the more you try to cater to the interests of others, the more boring the post is.
