Yes God exists. No, religion no longer has much of a connection to God.
It appears a person must befriend God on an individual level and not approach him in a crowd. This is to become spiritual as opposed to joining an organized religion (whose sole purpose seems to be to control masses of people).
Yes, the world is full of horrors. However, they are man made and by God not stepping in to stop the warring is merely proof that the gift of Free Will is in fine working order.
It is man who commits whatever attrocities are being committed, not God.
