Scotch or Ruy Lopez?

Hey guys! I've been playing the Italian game since I started playing chess (4 years ago) and I feel like it is time to change my opening, but I don't know if I should choose the scotch game or the Ruy Lopez. Do you play one of these openings? If you do, what are your favorite variants? thanks in advance happy.png

I feel like white is always trying to untangle in the Scotch, so I don't really like it.

At lower ratings it's fun because your opponent will play badly, but when people know lines, at least for me, I wasn't enjoying the positions. I know Kasparov was trying it here and there, and it's obviously not a bad opening, but I didn't like it.

Ruy was much more fun as either color.

Thank you @llamonade2! I was afraid to play the Ruy Lopez for being a well known and theoretical opening, but after playing a few games with the Scotch I didn't like the positions I got, even tho I won 57% of them. The Ruy Lopez is harder to learn, but I think it will be worth it, especially for me, because I play a lot of important face-to-face tournaments.
