I feel like white is always trying to untangle in the Scotch, so I don't really like it.
At lower ratings it's fun because your opponent will play badly, but when people know lines, at least for me, I wasn't enjoying the positions. I know Kasparov was trying it here and there, and it's obviously not a bad opening, but I didn't like it.
Ruy was much more fun as either color.
Hey guys! I've been playing the Italian game since I started playing chess (4 years ago) and I feel like it is time to change my opening, but I don't know if I should choose the scotch game or the Ruy Lopez. Do you play one of these openings? If you do, what are your favorite variants? thanks in advance
