I actually looked it up & I was right, it is indeed from Southern India; from Gumatapura in Karnataka. "Gaumata" means cow, so the town's name literally has the word cow in it.
And it's not really surprising to me that they are using cow dung. Some Hindus believe cows and everything they produce is sacred and purifying. I've read about some people in our country bathing in cow dung to boost their immunity against Covid 19, and the list goes on and on...This country is a little weird for sure.





Abhi,.... didn't mean to offend the good people of India. I just wasn't aware of that ritual. I know Spain has one where they throw tomatoes at a crowd of people once a yr..... but cow crap.?
(edit).... maybe its Italy with the tomatoes. Spain has the running of the bulls. I've seen in big American cities, they do HUMONGUS pillow fights.
