Dreadlock Holiday brings back memories of a stay in Dominica(sunday) the Island so named by errant exporer Columbus ,who "discovered" it on a Sunday ,The island has the largest mosquitoes I ever had the misfortune to encounter,its also known as the Nature Island.It has its plusses aswell but they're hard to find,I was inroduced to the leader of the opposition labour party by my taxi driver while on a nature walk,He asked me lots of questions about the N.Ireland situation. It was election time and tensions were running high ,Well he , Rosy Douglas,a left winger was duly elected .

There were lots of really shady characters on the island CIA types and hard drinking Russians who were good fun One of whom tried to meet up with me back home in Ireland ,He was en route to my home from the airport but never arrived.

Rosy was found dead in his bed 3 weeks after his election,of" natural causes".He looked fit as a racehorse when I first met him when he was out jogging ,he looked in primo condition .

While making Let It Be ,the atmosphere between the Beatles had become toxic ,Lennons insistence on including Yoko Ono in their studio recording sessions was the last straw for the other 3 members of the band ,After the breakup was announced to an unbelieving world, people wanted to know why,? not much info was forthcoming but we knew that there was an ongoing feud between Lennon and McCartney ,with John becoming more and more vitriolic towards Paul .Lennon released an album on this track was featured

Paul however proving he was the calmer of the two protagonists,wasn't keen to air their dirty laundry in public,and he simply released a single called 'mary had a little lamb ' which brought howls of derision from Beatles hardcore fans ,myself included,But in retrospect I think Paul was really thumbing his nose at Johns 'revolutionary man of the people' tag ,an accolade that John greedily coveted but could never really hope to attain.,Him being one of the richest people on the planet at the time.
