A man went out to the beach
And he saw an awful sight
A hundred thousand starfish
Had been washed up that night
He looked around and sighed
And he thought, “why even try?”
He sat down and he watched
As the starfish slowly died
A girl walked to the shore
And picked up just a few
And one by one she tossed them
Back to safety in the blue
The man, he shook his head
And he called out to the girl
He told her there’s too many
And there’s more across the world
That she’d never make a difference
And it’s dumb to even try
She just threw another starfish
“Made a difference for that guy”

But she can still help where she can
