Hey guys! My coach just favored me to make an opening prayer for chess, and I can't make one by myself.

Please suggest me a long opening prayer for a chess tournament until October 19, 2022, but suggestions are still open after October 19 for the upcoming tournaments after October 23. We will pick the best one for the video.

Thanks for suggesting!

I am not sure that it is appropriate to make any opening prayers before chess games. If this is a tournament at a church, or at a religious school, then maybe there is valid reason to propose a prayer before a chess tournament. But you don't know whether all the players belong to the religion of the person who is speaking the prayer. You also don't know whether any of them even believe in God.

From my perspective of someone who associates with Christians. Not with all of them, but with this religion generally speaking, I don't know how we know whether God even wants people to play chess at all. What if this is a way to waste time which God would want those who believe in him to be spent on something like directly helping people? Maybe God hates chess? I don't know.

BUT, if you had already decided, I can only imagine one kind of prayer that would be acceptable. Say something about how the players should not hate or have bad feelings about their opponents even if the players play against each other. Hate and rudeness is unfortunately a very common thing among chess players.

Hello! To answer the question, most of the participants in October 23 are Christians on the upcoming tournament, but my chess coach told me to make an opening prayer for the tournament on October 23. Hope this helps to your question/concern, and I'm sorry at the misunderstanding.
