I don't think Microsoft makes very much money off of Windows anymore - most of its income is from cloud services. Now, Windows is just the vehicle for selling you their cloud stuff.

Their cloud services actually use Linux machines afaik to run VMs.

I was hip once. Now I worry about them.

One of the things I hated about Sharepoint was that it had an extremely clunky connection to the internet yet it's made for sharing files over a network. At least, I thought it was clunky because my browser settings don't allow the type of redirection Sharepoint requires to display a document.

I don't really remember what our VM server ran. We were into it so seldom and even then used its extremely simple and limited menu. It was really just there to allocate resources (RAM, disk, etc.) and start/stop the VMs. Once you get a MS VM going you can do everything from there.

edit: Oh, and it was Linux Tails not Trails. (the mind is the first to go happy)

I figured you meant Tails. I created one a number of years ago but didn't really use it. It used to be difficult to create, but I think they've recently made it easier to create. I should probably play with it more.

Remember what last time mass castration happened? Not very good things followed

Well, along with the sopranos there were the castratos.

I was talking about eugenics

If it wasn't for Intel then Microsoft's bloatware would never run. Hail Intel!

I've toyed with Linux a few times. Tinkered with Ubuntu once, Trails a couple times. I've started looking at other versions because I think I'm headed there in the near future. I've fought with Microsoft through an entire career. I'm tired of it. I'll go fight with something else for a while.

Oh, a syrup reference. Did you know that cold sap fresh from the tree is about the most thirst quenching drink possible? Boy, Howdy!

Thought it had to be pasteurized first to remove bacteria?

At work it's Microsoft for admin and Linux for tech. Can't fight the big wigs who are used to the old ways.

For personal use also Linux. Linux improved a lot over the last decade

I've been out of the business for (wow!) six years now and basically put it behind me about four years ago. I've tinkered a little with a home network but only to connect this main PC with the old archive machine upstairs. I imagine things out in the tech world have improved a bit. I've been branching out into so many projects and old hobbies that I'm getting nothing useful done. It's great!

I had to eat a little crow after I bragged up some syrup I bought at a Pennsylvania maple festival. But that stuff can't hold a candle to the syrup my friend has made. I helped finish off, filter, and can some a few times. I've never tasted better. I prefer a medium to dark Grade A Amber, which suited my friend. He had too many other people begging for the light amber. So, take a back seat, Vermont and Canada. The best syrup comes from Pennsylvania. tongue

Dang, now that I'm on keto, syrup is another item that's off my menu, haha.

I had chocolate chips on my pancakes when I was on Keto. I don’t remember how many carbs each though.

Just don't tell me that there's a stevia-based maple syrup. I might be tempted...

The choc chips probably weren't a problem as long as you didn't use too many. But the pancakes are another issue...

The pancakes were low carb, like four carbs each maybe?

If we're talking about stevia maple syrup or anything like that it's just not maple syrup anymore lol

Yep, I think I'm better off just not thinking about these things. :-)
