Talent or Practice Which Actually Wins

Everyone says practice makes perfect but some players just seem naturally better. In chess do you think talent is real or is it just about grinding hours? I want all opinions. Who would win the genius who never practices or the grinder who practices five hours a day?

grinder, cause naturally s|he'll learn more including some pretty mean tricks.

#2 Fair point 😄 but I think even otf we can debate chess ideas without taking it too seriously. Plus it is fun to see who has wild opinions

#3 Good point. Grinding does teach tricks fast but do you think a natural genius could just outplay the grinder with intuition alone?

#4 Exactly a mix seems fair. But who do you think has the edge early versus late in a match? Talent or practice?

still on practice...talent may be better at spotting opportunities, but practice has seen alot of lines. If the game is long then talent has a pretty good chance, but if its short practice will possibly come out on top because the lines are deep, even with talent,it will take a while to calculate them. meanwhile practice has seen games played by GMs and strong players so s|he might be familiar with the position and the outcome; in other words, s|he'll be seeing it through the other strong players eyes.
