I once posted an article about why I think Eddie Munson is an homage to Edward the Bard from Final Fantasy IV. Edward is somewhat cowardly and was powerless when the princess was killed. His special ability is to hide, as Eddie does when pursued by the athletes. At a critical moment, when the other heroes are paralyzed by the magic of a Vecna looking aberration called Dark Elf, Edward distracts the monster from afar with his string instrument, breaking the spell and allowing the others to prevail.

The final “episode” of Stranger Things will drop to Netflix on New Year’s Eve. At 2 hours and 8 minutes, this conclusion will be the duration of a feature length movie. A few cinemas will also be showing it that night.
