The Avegers know nothing about chess

I was flipping through some chanells the other day. This day to be honest and cought on a movie. The avengers, and no it's not any cartoon or super hero movie. No it's a sience fiction with Sean Connery as a super villan who wants to deastroy the world or some shit like that. Something to be expected from a former 007 agent.

Anyway, what cought my attension was the main characters playing chess. Looking very clever not even looking at the table rabbling letters and numbers at random while trying to figgur out a plan to stop the evil villain.

"Bishop to b6 haha" and "Queen to c7 aha hahaha" But what really got on my nerves,,, The last two moves:

The gentelmen very cleverly placed his rook to e5, Check. Then the lady (starring Uma Thurman) walked up to the table and said "Queen to f7, check mate."

Uma's king is not necessarily in check from the rook. This could be a discovered check from a piece on f7, in which case it be legal. Or maybe they are playing a space-chess variant where you can hide your king in a wormhole while you checkmate.

Although I definitely appreciate the outburst in defense of the rules as they are conceived in mass consciousness (or lack thereof).

Well that's a very good point, but she didnt say Queen executes on f7. Simply "Queen f7, check mate" Unless queen executes a threatening piece. Her king is still in check. -.-
