Thanks for all of the recent posts. In my case I guess that I'm stuck in a time warp. As i may have mentioned earlier in this thread my Satellite Radio spends a lot of time tuned to the 50s on 5, mind you I also listen to the 1960s and the 1970s channels as well but the 1950s songs are my favourites. As Bob Sieger said in one of his songs: " give me that Old Time Rock and Roll "  lol.

I remember a guy in college who used to give me hell for liking Elvis' "Don't Be Cruel."

Of course, he liked Hall & Oates...

I played Elvis on the same little record player I played Peter Pan on when I was a kid.

Pretty much like that but black and brown.

Thanks for all of the recent posts. That is a cute little record player, I got my first one back around 1967 from the CBS Record Club at a reduced price but I had to buy several records during the following 12 months. It had 2 speakers which could be detatched from the main unit and there was about 6 feet of wire for each speaker so they could be set far apart to try to get a Stereo effect, a fun little machine.

My first looked pretty much like that one (with a red and white checkered lid).  On it I used to spin such platters as this:

Another loss from the ranks of Rock musicians today. Donald ( Duck ) Dunn passed away, he had belonged to the " Booker T And The MGs " Group. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame he was known both as a Guitarist and as a Composer.

More sad news: Donna Summers, the Queen of Disco, passed away today at age 63. She had won 5 Grammys in her long career.

And we have suffered another loss in the Music business, Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees has passed away.

Of a preventable cancer (so they tell me).

My wife also has colorectal cancer (metastasized), Stage 4, but she should live for another 20-25 years.  Of course, she has chemotherapy every 2 weeks (& will have for the rest of her life), which she has been doing for the last 3½ years!  BTW, this is her 2nd diagnosis, the 1st being way back in 2003 ("merely" Stage 3).

So, my friends, GET THOSE COLONOSCOPIES DONE!  They don't hurt & could just save your life...

Thanks for the recent posts. Thanks for the info Javan64 and I cetrainly wish you and your Wife the Best of Luck on the health front.

In regards to Robin Gibb and disease prevention I'm reminded of the late Bobby Fischer. If I understand things correctly some people felt that if he hed gotten medical help earlier for his Kidney problems he might have lived longer. Also I'm not sure how long he spent in custody in Japan and how much bearing that had on the time-lines.

The only modern day comparison to the beatles, stones, who, hendrix would be RHCP. They are the best rock genre song writers of the time.

Thanks for all of the posts. The question of The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones will of course continue. But then some of us ask what about Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Bill Hailey, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis etc etc ? And what about the Blues performers who lead the way many years ago ? To get info on some of this music one can check over on Youtube.
