My license plate reads: DBEATLS.

I think that covers it for me.

My nephew emailed  me a pic of the rear of my car so  I could post it here, But I can't figure out how to move the pic from gmail to a folder I can access here. Doh!

Haha, what a dinosaur grin.png Ask your nephew, he knows

Great license plate!

As for the question, all these bands were good (except for The Rolling Stones (in my opinion)). The bands I like at that time is Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, The Who, The Temptations, The Beatles, Eagles, and there many bands that made one great song.

to your previous point, most in this topic know the who. the band is regularly called who.

as far as any particular taste in music one may have, i think this is why cabby (baddy?) started this topic. if the stones did nothing for you, so be it.

for the bands that created only one memorable song...they are not worthy here. one hit does not make a band.

and, if you want to go back, we must go to the origin of blues. guys like hooker, king, guy, etc. they were the foundation of rock and roll as many know it.

just ask members of led zeppelin, who copied so much of their stuff.

Who?

what?

They "borrowed" some stuff and "forgot" to give credit... :/

i'll admit that i like a lot of zepellin tunes, but, damn, they stole a lot.

it's one thing to sample, another to do a cover. zeppelin never gave credit and had to go to court about it.

Did LZ ever get a court decision against them for such a case?

I think the case with Spirit(?), the most recent I heard about, wasn't strong enough, but I've heard melodies which were much closer to the original

one case: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/led-zeppelin-prevail-in-stairway-to-heaven-lawsuit-20160623

another interpretation, from the same source: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/led-zeppelins-10-boldest-rip-offs-20160622

just two links, but, i've read about this at length, and my opinion on this is that they stole. i posted a link years ago detailing many songs they had ripped off. sorry i can't find it now.

sad thing is they were all great musicians. not giving credit is what makes them less from my view.

Yeah, that's how I feel about Led Zeppelin, too

Totally awesome band, but didn't treat right other musicians that they "borrowed" stuff from, so morally not up to my standards

The Pixies are one of my favorite alternative rock bands

Pixies - nice. Maybe not quite among my very biggest favourites in terms of their whole output but the best songs like "Where Is My Mind" or "Gouge Away" are absolute classics. Also nice to see artists who have started after the 60's in this threadwink.png.
