an unnamed law enforcement official claims he sent the now-infamous video ofRay Rice punching his then-fiance in a casino elevator to NFL league security chief Jeffrey Miller in April, according to a recent AP report.

The official could not confirm that Miller ever watched the video, but said he did receive a voice mail from the league office confirming the package was received. The official allowed the AP to listen to the 12-second message, in which a woman reportedly says, "You're right. It's terrible."

In a statement released Thursday night, Miller denied having received the video, according to Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal:

"I unequivocally deny that I received at any time a copy of the video and I had not watched it until it was made public on Sept. 8."

The NFL has stated that none of its employees saw the video until the TMZ went public with it.

"Since the NFLPA and NFL have launched separate investigations into the league and the Ravens' handling of Ray Rice's case, I want to make a few things clear. No one from the NFL ever asked me for the inside-elevator video," the official said Thursday. "I mailed it anonymously to Jeff Miller because he's their head of security. I attached a note saying: `Ray Rice elevator video. You have to see it. It's terrible.' I provided a number for a disposable cellphone and asked for confirmation that it was received. I knew there was a possibility Mr. Miller may not get the video, but I hoped it would land in the right hands.

"My intention wasn't to bring down Commissioner Goodell or anyone else at the NFL," the he added.

That the official sent and received confirmation for the deliver is not new -- the AP reported it two weeks ago. At the time however, the anonymous official asked the AP not to report that the packaged was addressed directly to Miller.

After the initial report, the league stood by its long held stance that it had never seen the video, but Roger Goodell left the door open on the possibility that it was received and never passed along.

"If there's a delivery sitting under someone's desk there will be consequences," the commissioner told Norah O'Donnell of CBS.

The AP notes that there are two NFL executives named Jeffrey Miller.

I wonder if the result would have been the same if Yami was on the elevator with Ray Rice instead. Yami is jumping up and down trying to shove that stupid ultraman drawing in Ray's face going, " whaddya think! Whaddya think! Huh? Huh? Whaddya think!"

Then *BIP* Out go the lights. Down goes Frasier, down goes Frasier!

I don't think Rice is the problem. Goodell is.

Its not the offense that gets you. Its the cover-up. I wonder if there is an 18 minute gap in the elevator tape?

Sports Illustrated reported back in Jan or Feb that the NFL had already seen the KO video. This fact was reported by Peter King and used as the reason he was so lenient on Ray Rice in his prior article.

I think that he should be investigated. He was either reporting fact or fiction. If it was fiction, then he should be fired. If he wants to keep his job, he should prove where he got his information.

ESPN suspended Bill Simmons for 3 weeks for the way he commented on this controversy.  CNN refered to it as;  "When sportcast anchormen become news commentators".Surprised       film at 11

A little logic should have told NFL officials what happened in the elevator. You don't walk into an elevator and get drug out two minutes later unless you had a medical emergency or someone beat the hell out of you. So the NFL investigators didn't want to know. That said I don't think anyone should be punished at work for conduct that happens outside the workplace.
