The Evolution of Science (no religion or politics)

Are (most) scientists more reliable now or in the past?  Virtually everything now is built on the work of previous scientists, allowing more room for errors to  add up.  But they can now use complex algorithms and technology.  Hmm...

They are just more pretentious.

Science is self-correcting due to triangulation:

triangulation indicates that two (or more) methods are used in order to check the results

Yes, Science follows a Darwinesque process of evolution.  A theory is postulated that holds sway until a better one comes along.   By 'better' I mean one that is shown to more accurately predict phenomena in the real world.  Good scientists are not emotionally attached to specific positions.  Publication and peer review are essential too.

Thanks, interesting articles to be sure, but not sure if you are seeing this as a confirmation of my comment or an objection to it?  Or maybe just unrelated, but interesting?  I don't think they detract from a view that Science is ever more reliable and accurate - consider how long it was believed that the sun revolved around the earth.

I also think science (in general) has evolved for the better, but I'm skeptical about some disciplines.

Science has had its ill effects too. The combined destruction of two world wars would only be a small fraction of what it was without science. Science in its infancy was nurtured by military lusts as a tool for colonisation and imperialism.

Politics and religion are important to this topic. AKA Galileo Galilei.
