Yes. But what's she, then?

She says she's "caught in the middle"

yeah she's in limbo between being a child and an adult, I'm not sure what exactly she is basing her assement on. Wouldn't it be weird if she could give us the solution to what is identity? It's like that joke the hokey cokey is really what it's all about. Sorry guys talking jibberish, for sure this time, going to call it a night. Hearfelt thanks to all that have contributed and gave me understanding and company and warmth.

It's interesting because Britney Spears is 33 years old. I don't know if she wrote the lyrics herself. But if she says she's neither girl nor woman, it means that she knows what being a girl or a woman is.

I wouldn't mind if she answered that question: What is a woman?

(#1283) How many people say I'd like to recapture my youth but I'd never give up my experience.

And if I act the same way now at 39 as I did at 20 ?....then I truly lost 19 years of my identity.

Only one life to live!

That's a good one!

Kind of explains why doctors think they cannot help someone with a 2200 years old injury.

I'm a spirit/transparent....and this's my 2nd life. I was first born on what's now halloween night in 1550 and cared for Catherine de Medici's rose garden with my big sister. My mom lied to the King (Charles IX) - he was only like 9 - and said we were Huguenots. And, his mom needed her garden caretaken. Besides, he kinda liked me. He was quite a bit older - like 4 months. Tell you more sometime.

I think that you've captured the essence of the conventional view of identity here. The concept we are a mixture of perceptions, beliefs and knowledge.

that depends. What is I? It may be completely different then the I that is being conceptualized. It may have always been and always will be. It may be combined to the other I's or it may be separate. It may even not exist. Sorry trysts I just think perhaps it's worth being aware that there may be other truths than the truth we percieve. By the way, why in the world would you think like that, you're amazing!

I'm trying to catch this cat that hangs out in our backyard and bring it in the house before it gets below zero winter. I named it Beige. Beige is starting to respond to its given name. It's been a month and half. Before, as soon as it hears me coming it would dart away. Now, it doesn't. I call its name, it will just sit there looking at me. It has allowed me to come within 6 feet of it.

The whole thing has got me thinking - in the wild, the fight or flight is a constant for animals.

Human societies have evolved to a level where we don't live in this constant of "fight or flight" - laws, customs, traditions, homes with locks on them....all this daily peaceful existence have afforded humans to better organize for larger activities of destruction like wars and no holds bar plundering of the planet, as well as the inventions of ways to more effectively do them...

Each of us are just one of the cells of this leviathan that is the human race...

There is a zero-sum war between this leviathan and itself, the planet its battlefield.

My identity is insignificant in the scheme and scale of things.

I have in my life time feed several wild or barn or outdoors cats and only has ever bitte me I had to go to the doctor to get an antibiotic.

The best way is to feed the cat just a little not too much as it will come back and want more. You need to wait quite a few weeks say 4 to 8 before you can even touch the cat nd even then be carefull as if even allows you to touch it it maybe for only 20 seconds and will bite or scratch you. You just need to know how to get the cat to come to you.

Good advice, Rickett. Thanks. I'll take it.

My first life was awful....Cry....I died on my 25th birthday in 1575. I sincerely hope your 2nd one is better....that is, if you believe in metempsychosis.

If it's possible that love or conciousness can be separate from matter then perhaps suffering can be avoided but as long as we live and die, suffering is part of the equation. I suppose the fact is how could we have pleasure without pain also existing.

(Tom), when you have stated, that you feel you are love.. i think (yes) it is the intended experience we are here for. : )  when reading the 'four noble truth' of Buddhism, i was surprised a little that love is not testified about?   i can't believe, that we are meant for so much suffering, which (we) have perpetuated, for age after age.. To alleviate harsh conditions, for each other, is our purpose, i think?/ the opposite, to hold that belief, 'life has no purpose" is the ultimate obstacle to get out of this bondage.
