The moderation on OTF needs to improve.

The mods be slacking off, and I barely see any good moderation these days

It’s just the same mods moderating, just the same mods, just 3. Erik doesn’t even help his own site, he should help his own members, but nope, he gets off scot free, not experiencing the torture.

I agree

I’m pretty sure only atti and martin is here

Guys, they are doing their best.

DepressoEspresso01

Like, support takes forever, and they hardly deal with false bans

UpbeatAngle

Moderation is done by volunteer members on the site.

Improving moderation is a community responsibility.

There aren't any arguments because at the slightest start of any minor altercation people get reported and muted.

Not always…

Most mods just silently moderate and don't say anything. I haven't had any bad experiences with support, but I've heard it takes a while for a lot of people, if they even get a response.

It would be nice, but most of us are too young for such a position.

"Most of us" That isn't all, people could still apply for the job and get it.

BasixWhiteBoy

By "most of us", I mean that 99% of everyone on OTF is a teenager or younger. The adults who are still active could if they wanted to, but I don't see anyone stepping up to do so.

Aren’t u the guy trying to diddle md on the freaky thread?

OneThousandEightHundred18

Why would I donate my time for free helping a wealthy site who's rules I don't even agree with. The only reason I can conjure up in my head is some satisfaction of having power over others. And that's just not me

Im_chess_noob

Yeah I agree that "bump" should be considered spamming. I don't know about other parts because I don't have a concrete estimation about the proportion of unnecessary threads.

Bumping a thread from 15 years ago without adding to it is spam, and you should receive some sort of punishment for doing so.

sleepyzenith

too little staff care

BasixWhiteBoy
But realistically, chess.com is focused on chess, and not enough of the chess.com population even touches the forums, so it makes sense that the staff don’t really pay much attention to the social side of things.
