64# I don’t care about prison time either. I am saying morally, if you switched the track to the other 1 person. You killed that person. If you do nothing, it is the fault of the person who tied them to the track. You are forgetting about the person you switch the track to. I don’t want to hear ANYTHING about ‘ItS bEtTeR to KiLl OnE pErSoN tHaN 5’. If 5 patients needed organs, would you kill a stranger and harvest their organs to give to the patients. You would have saved 5 people, but you kill 1 innocent. No of course you wouldn’t.

It’s irrelevant if less people die. It’s the action that matters, not the overall consequence. If you pull the lever, you murder an innocent. The overall consequence is that you save 5, which I think doesn’t matter.

It’s like in the Batman film, when the joker says if you kill this reporter I won’t blow up this hospital. Someone like you would argue you should kill the reporter because it saves everyone in the hospital, despite the murder of an innocent

A trolley is heading towards 5 people. You can pull the lever, but doing so would explode the trolley.
There are four people inside the trolley and if you choose to pull the lever, they will have a 50% chance to die in a painful way, while doing nothing would peacefully kill that 5 people.
