Hyenas and lions compete for the same prey and you might say they don't get on very well. A hyena can displace any predator from a kill except a lion and even a pack won't shift a pride if there is at least one adult male lion present.
There are some exceptional scenarios however; a lioness with cubs will give way if outnumbered 4-1 and if a pride is very heavily outnumbered, even lions will abandon their kill.
