How would you define "time traveling" in this case? Why would one end up in space?

Well if you would start the travel in time at a specific location in universe and you would arrive at the same location 60 years later, everything else such as earth other planets and starts would have continued to move in time and would not be at the same location as they were 60 years ago. That's why I think you would end up in space.
But if you end up in space then you haven't arrived at the same location right ;)? I think it all depends on how you define "the exact location" and "the same location".

This is true. I believe you would not arrive in the "exact" location, but you would arrive in the "same" location, meaning the location would have changed, even in the slightest way, but you are still technically in the same place.

wait. doesnt the earth travel in the same orbit every year. if that is true and you went exactly 60 years back then you would be in the same place still. cause the earth would have been in the same spot and orbit just 60 revolutions around the sun before. right?
Nope remember that the sun is rotating around the Milky Way Galaxy? So you are never at the same point again, unless you manage to reverse the movement of the sun, the rotation of the earth, and the movement of the earth.

This was what I was thinking about. So starting at earth and ending up on earth is VERY unlikely then.
oh, yeah i hadforgotten about the sun moving. yeah it you would end up in space then. if you went back in time you would end up in space. unless of course you went back a very very long time ago...

I read a few posts in this topic http://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/life3 and it got me thinking...
If you would time travel, wouldn't you end up at a different location than you left from as everything is moving all the time? If you would timetravel for 60 years (as someone in the topic above wanted to do) you wouldn't arrive here on earth, you would arrive somewhere in space, or would you?
