Garbage that last quote . No offence though buddy

About quotes on determinism, I find more interesting a comment Stephen Hawking made once in Twitter, something more or less like: "if you roll a toy car down a hill, you can be sure it will reach the bottom, but can you predict exactly the path it will follow?"

Sure . I've explored this . Hawking said that Einstein was wrong in that Einstein said absolutely everything was determined . That God didn't play dice .

Hawking said that at a quantum level it's only possible to know though speed or mass of a particle . I think plank's constant covers this .

However hawking also has said that in terms of people we are biological and chemical and therefore subject to maxwell's laws .

Both hawking and Einstein agree that human behaviour is subject to causality and free will is an illusion .

But as I understand it, the point is that doesn't matter in practice.

I'm interested though in this whole quantum physics thing too .

Hawking talks in his theory of everything book about a particle travelling from a to b in every possible way simultaneously rather than one particular way .

That at a quantum level newton's laws don't apply .

The rules that we see around us day to day don't apply .

I like that quote, it might need or want some new tyres. Will it really need them? Or is it false consciousness driven by greedy economic elites, multi-national conglomorates and backed up by media?   :)

How causality fits into this quantum world is a curiosity to me .

Carla . A little bit of politics !

Pulp does it matter if free will exists ?

It depends .

Sure the outcome in terms of what you get out of my life may be the same regardless of the view you hold about that subject .

I'm not sure about that to be honest.

I think though if you are like me having an existential crisis then maybe you need to make sense of how you fit within the universe.

Or at least give up hoping to !

I really should enter my workplace .

Anyone want to hold my hand .

Okay here goes nothing .

To infinity and beyond .

Stay on target , stay on target .

God help me . Okay have a good day and thanks for the posts .

I know, sorry.

Ok, so I think this when you start to think about it, how much free will is there really. Not much probably, so you have choices, but your choices are limited and determined by a lot of factors.

Me having an existential crisis? I basically agree with your views, but being a bunch of chemicals and still having the chance to live a fullfilling life (not to mention interacting with another, more appealing, bunch of chemicals) is enough to me, even if you call it an illusion.

"C.S. Lewis" -- "There are 2 types of people - Those who say, to God.. 'Thy will be done' - "And those to whom 'God' says - 'Okay.. Have it Your way, then'."

"And here's something else, another problem you might have: Suppose your prayers aren't answered. What do you say? "Well, it's God's will." "Thy Will Be Done." Fine, but if it's God's will, and He's going to do what He wants to anyway, why the fuck bother praying in the first place? Seems like a big waste of time to me! Couldn't you just skip the praying part and go right to His Will? It's all very confusing."Author: George Carlin

One of many, 'answered prayer' quotes, on 'Images.' ..Also, Not that it will necessarily cause you to be Less {highly} skeptical - But, if one 'googles' the term, 'answered prayer' {stories}, on your 'search-engine' - My 'screen' just related, that there are " '1,380,000' results".. whatever that represents!? ..lol

SA..and how many unanswered prayers are there? The statistic you quote means nothing on its own.

Of course,Carlin is one of the best stand up comedians, funniest man,and wise! And he is the best of that group of mortals to whom God says,  'Okay.. Have it Your way, then'. :)

Any 'statistics' would be unreliable, if you were to stop & think about it. --

As for the 'quote means nothing on its' own' - I would think it would 'Mean something' to anyone, whose ever said that!
