Hi, I shared this post with the intent to spread awareness about suicide prevention and provide helpful resources. For many, Chess.com is a place to play chess and have fun, so I included "Trigger Warning" to indicate that this might be an emotionally triggering topic. If this post gets deleted, I will ask chess.com if something similar can be posted again with disabled comments.
Trigger Warning - Mental Health Related

Since your the "Original Poster"....chess.com wants you to police your own thread. If people joke about or try to change directions of the "awareness" then just block them. As someone who's trying to quit smoking, I learnt about triggers in an awreness class.

@RonaldJosephCote Likely, that is true. I just try to avoid blocking anyone, but yeah, sometimes it needs to be done...Ah, quiting smoking, that is no easy feat to overcome. Difficult, but not impossible. Happy to hear that you're doing something about it, well done! Also, thank you for the tips.

Hi Ron, I quit smoking some years ago so I know how difficult it can be. Mindset is extremely important. I found it useful to remind myself that I am a non-smoker. Not a smoker trying to quit, or even an ex-smoker, but a non-smoker. Then just grit your teeth and remember that it gets easier the longer you do without. Someday you'll wonder what a cigarette would taste like again. Never, ever try one again. Ever. Been there, done that. Big mistake.
I suppose this derails a suicide thread a little but smoking is just a slow form of suicide. I'm glad you're quitting. Good luck.

Thank you for the smoking thoughts. I have this magnet on my frig...
