Unicorns and Rhinoceros

Sort:

We all know that the image depicted of unicorns nowadays is fake however why does the Bible mention the word unicorn? Well, interestingly enough I watched a video on YouTube a while back that suggested that the unicorns mentioned in the Bible are actually Rhinoceros. This was very intriguing to me. The word unicorn is mentioned around nine times in the KJV and it made me start to wonder. Gave me something to think about for sure and thought I would share my thoughts. Let me know what you think below. Don't be posting anything against chess.com rules, just your thoughts and be nice.

It doesn’t have to be religious. That’s why I said not to be going against chess.com rules. 😁

I am sure there are millions of species that have come and gone, why not a unicorn?

Potato50012

There have been other unicorn-like species over time. Rhinos are only one of the many possibilities.

Because they're mythical creatures.

it is one of the heraldic creatures that Scotland has chosen , also the Lion Rampant

ANOK1

but i think the bruce chose the unicorn as the symbol as its natural enemy is the lion , which of course is a creature the english chose as a national anmal ,

not everything is feline caused ,,, but you have your obsession which causes no harm

ANOK1

ANOK1

what bores you may not bore another , but i guess cc is all about entertaining you mate , gladly that isnt the case

ANOK1

the kelpie isnt an origin creature of the unicorn though , but i thought id include this mythological beast as it is Scottish in origin , perhaps also Irish , but both nations share a celtic myth link
