Since it's Memorial Day I got reminded of this topic that always seems to pop up on Unpopular Opinion forums: people say that veterans are over-hyped. What do y'all think of that?

I like veterans but they're kind of crazy
I mean, advertising for the military makes it look all badass and cool, and then when people get there they see their friends die, they kill some people at close range, and they come home with severe mental problems that our government doesn't do enough to help.
But this is gonna get the topic locked, trust me I've started a thread about war and veterans, and it went sour very quickly and got locked. Basically I respect soldiers and what they've been through, but I think the government lies to them and uses them for nefarious selfish purposes. I don't respect the goals being sought after because it's all a lie. Freedom my butt.

Those are namby-pamby "unpopular opinions". Try having some like, "I don't think women should be allowed to vote" and then go around telling everyone your opinion. Or put an anti-gay bumper sticker on your car, and see how brave you really are.
