USA Browser Privacy (Public Service Announcement) - GPC Settings

I just saw this on Steve Gibson's "Security Now" podcast. At the end of this year (Jan 1, 2023), USA protections for the new Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal will begin. While nothing will happen this year, you can go ahead and enable the setting now so that it will start working on January 1st.

If you don't care about browser privacy, feel free to ignore this stuff. :-)

You can either watch the YouTube video or read the show notes. (It's the same content.) The relevant sections of the video are from 48:10 to 57:05, *AND* from 1:16:50 to 1:43:20. (Steve almost never skips around when reading the show notes, but he did this time.)

If you're using some flavor of the Chrome or Chromium-based browser, I think you'll need to install an extension to enable the setting.

My LibreWolf browser was already set up to send the signal. I had problems with my Firefox and Vivaldi browsers - I had to use the "Disconnect" extension to get the job done with those two browsers. (Maybe it was because I'm on Linux, idk?) My Firefox for Windows browser was no problem - the about:config settings worked just fine for that one.
