Star Trek is very political (Rules/morals, society management, resource management, conflict management, diplomacy, etc)
Picking a favourite character is also a political statement... and can be very divisive of the community, highlighting differences and tensions between people.

Last year the replicator couldn't do a turkey we got that fixed. Turkey and stuffing this year
