Both you and the Seb Leb'ster are too awesome to live in any country, for that matter.

Don't negate Sebleb - he will be Canada's Prime Minister in 30 years, I guarantee it.  And ALL of the Canadian people will get chess lessons then.

LoekBergman

Is that question coming from a guy living in a country consisting of 50 states within one state?

BTW within the Kingdom of the Netherlands are four countries, namely the Netherlands and Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

But Great Britain is more complex, because Queen Elizabeth is not only the queen of Great Britain, but also the queen of the countries belonging to the Commonwealth. She is the queen of 53 countries.

Mr_Tarkanian

Loek, remember those 50 things are STATES, not countries.  If those were 50 COUNTRIES within a country, then I hear ya!  50 states within a country.  Not 50 states within a state.

So truly Great Britain is a country that has several countries within it?  And don't try to trick me into saying that England is just a state......You rascal.

zborg

Too many people can't even read a map.

Canada is another example of those "mixed up" countries, with links to various other states.

If your country ever had a King, you might need a Funk and Wagnell's to tell the all the subsequent players and "states" apart.

For example, the difference between Great Britain and the U.K.?

Who really cares what the map says?  It's more a question of the History you haven't studied.

But in any case...@Selebie is clearly a Citizen of the World.  Nuff said?

Keep on reading, you might find out what I wrote. The Netherlands have more countries then 1 within one country. France has that too. I did not say that of Great Britain.

Do you know that the United Nations has member states?

Funny to be called a rascal by someone who is using capitalization quickly and is not reading well. Sorry, I tried to be friendly and give you extra information.

zborg

@Loek, take the broom out of your behind.  PLEASE.

Canada rocks!  I love the zoning laws that keep in business all the small shops in Toronto.  More power to you.

Calm down, Tone Loek.  You said 50 states within a state, which, as you know, isn't true.  Thanks for all of the extra info.  :)

LoekBergman

@Mr_Tarkanian: you are welcome. I know it is not true, but it was intended as a joke.  There is a similarity between countries in a country and states in the United States.

Mr_Tarkanian

True True.  And maybe its just a translation gap between languages.  When I said "rascal", it doesn't mean dipsh#@@ or dumb sh@#@  - things of that nature.  Its not a putdown - just a silly word.

WHAT?????!!!!!!!!  Why ....you.....little......BI*#@^@!!!!!!!

Just teasing.

LoekBergman

I understood it differently indeed. I looked it up and it has two different meanings. Only knew the one you did not intend to use.

The British cavalery always comes late.

Scoundrels. They're always unpunctual.

netzach

Think you mean they are separate from the European continent? None of those would be considered continents themselves.

dictionary.com

1.
one of the main landmasses of the globe, usually reckoned as seven in number
(Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, and Antarctica).
2.
a comparable landmass on another planet.
3.

4.
the mainland of Europe, as distinguished from the British Isles.

British Isles would never equate to that. You've misunderstood what you were being taught.

Culture, heritage and especially legal-tradition varies even between the different places that comprise the United Kingdom. The legal systems in Scotland and England are totallly different for instance and always have been. Even historically.

Thought the same was true of the US with laws being different between states?

Mr_Tarkanian

Firestopr, I have actually went from 1100 rated to just under 1800 in a few months with the SebLeb training that he offers.

I'd say that is amazing support for him.....if only my statement was actually true.  :(

AlCzervik

Wha..?? There are 8 continents?
