Aint chess a waste of time. A game which can not be perfected.

I mean most of guys are under 1000 rank. The most they can reach is 1000, which is strictly amateur.

What all this worth for? May be check mating other player give another player a rush. And made them think of themselves as genius or something.

when it is alredy proven that, its all about practice.

That isn't true. Not every genius has to like chess.Maybe they think it is too easy.

Considering joining Chess.com. I have been a member of ICC for years, but

the cheating on that site is bad.

Pretty soon this French guy will be coming along and saying the exact opposite.

If you view chess as the spices of life, you have a great time. If chess is your whole universe, it is a totally different story.

Personally, I consider black pepper the spice of life.

Chess is more like a cross between MSG and tumeric.

Is it salt or mustard the actual 'first' spice(spicyness?) of life?

kleelof

Salt was probably used well before mustard since it occurs naturally in a state that can be used without processing.

There is a great book called 'Salt' (not the AJ movie of the same name) that traces the history of salt in human history. Very interesting.

Mark Kurlansky. I've read his book, Cod. Salt is on my want to read list. Cod was interesting, but fell a little short on history after he abandoned the Basques, who preceded Columbus across the Atlantic.

I play golf, I'll never be Rory McIlroy.

What a waste of time.

TheOldReb

All leisure time activities could be seen as a waste of time , couldnt they ?  Chess is a leisure time activity / hobby for the vast majority of those who play it .

It's cute that you called tea 'distinctly British' even though it was being used for thousands of years before the British claimed it.

That article touches on many interesting ideas. It would be nice if you would double or triple its length with more details.

Scottrf

Being British is a state of mind, not a nationality.

Pulpofeira

True.

After yesterday's, I told myself I wasn't ever gonna open anything from this OP guy again....dumb me....I'm out.

Chess itself isn't a waste of time. Chess forums, on the other hand, are.

Only when it's all about chess.
