The way the site has set up new account creation, no, new spam accounts can't be blocked easily. If it's easy for new legitimate accounts to be created, then it's also easy for new spam accounts to be created.

I'm not good at tech so I have no idea.

It would have to be more sophisticated than that. As a person doing keto myself, I wouldn't want to be blocked from discussing keto. Also, the spammers would just start using slight alternate spellings.

And of course, that would mean that the site programmers would actually have to invest time and effort. Better to just let the volunteer mods waste their time dealing with the problem.

Fair enough. Guess the real issue and solution, then, is more mods.
