You need to use strategy in it and I think it's pretty similar to chess 960. Hand speed also plays a role. But it uses some kind of power mechanism that you need to upgrade if you want to be stronger. To upgrade it you need tokens, to get tokens you need to buy it.
Try othelo or stratego they are not too like it but have the same high strategy and feel
Quoridor. It’s basically Chess, but the special pieces (knight, bishop, etc) are replaced with walls. Look it up.
