First of all the first form of chess was probably different that what it is now and the eight probably wouldn’t have been there
Even if it was correlation is not equal causation
Keeping this in mind

I've always been intrigued by the concept of a hidden code in Chess----it's definitely a mathematical game, and certain numbers (like 8) keep popping up...sort of like the so-called "Bible Code/Torah Code", only involving numbers instead of words...
Chess is an ancient game but also resembles more than a game an equilbrium system with all the possible draws. Now comes expeculation, let's assume from now that the ancient technology theory is acceptable.
Then could chess have been some calculation method, model of controller of something more complex like some laws of nature that we knew in antiquity but weactually ignore, and this model have been passed through generations as a game?
we have 2 lines of 8 pieces for each side on an 8x8 board, and eight is a pretty iconic number in chemistry as well as in informatics.
In chemistry eight electrons on the last energy level is the most stable configuration, it could be that each row on the board represents an energy level, may be of two atoms side to side.
It also could be some quantic model, some gravitation model or who knows what could be hidden in chess at plain sight.
