what is a “bump”
People say it when they are "bumping" a thread to the top of the first page to try to give it more attention.

A bump is when someone makes a pointless response to a thread in order to bring it to the top of the forum for others to see.
doing this on old and inactive topics is considered spam and could get you warned or muted.

Often it’s an old topic, users in the topic have been inactive, or the topic is no longer relevant. Often people are searching for an old topic for clout. This is often done repeatedly.
there are some legitimate times a topic is bumped.
