So @BISHOP_e3 wins this. It is indeed a handmade brass shepherd dog whistle. It's loud as heck, but you don't have to blow it loud for the dog to hear it from half a mile away. Each dog has It's own whistle calls so you can work two dogs at the same time. When a dog gets transferred to a new owner the previous owner teaches the new owner the dog's whistle calls and gives the whistle to the new owner. My dog has outstanding recall with this whistle.
